Wisdom Teeth and What to Do About Them – patient information to assist informed consent
This ADA patient education pamphlet provides dental information on the removal of wisdom teeth (also referred to as “third molars”). The topics discussed include:

- The problems caused by wisdom teeth, including infection, cyst, food trap and resorption cavity
- The different types of anaesthesia that may be used during surgery, including local anaesthesia, conscious sedation and general anaesthesia
This leaflet can be a useful tool for patients considering surgery as the dental procedure, recovery after surgery and possible complications of surgery are discussed in detail.
