Root Canal Treatment – patient information to assist informed consent
This ADA patient education pamphlet provides dental information on root canal treatment (also referred to as endodontic treatment). The topics discussed include: the goals of root canal treatment, the anatomy of a healthy tooth and the root canal procedure. The causes of infection or inflammation of the pulp are also listed, including the breakdown of a filling or crown, periodontal disease and trauma.
The procedure is described for patients that may need a root canal to treat symptoms such as pain, temperature sensitivity, and swelling of the gums. This leaflet can be a useful tool for patients considering undergoing root canal treatment as the possible complications of treatment are outlined in detail.
Mi-tec publishes 31 Australian Dental Association patient information brochures. The dental information is written in plain English to assist the patients’ understanding of oral health information and to help patients make informed decisions. The ADA patient information brochures are printed in five-colour on high-quality A4 sheets.
