Caesarean Birth – patient information to assist informed consent
This patient education pamphlet provides treatment information on caesarean birth (also known as caesarean section, or C-section). This leaflet can be a useful tool for pregnant women as it outlines reasons for caesarean delivery (including reasons for an elective caesarean and emergency caesarean), the surgical procedure and its possible complications.
Other topics discussed include: what to expect before the procedure, the presence of other people in the operating room, and the type of anaesthesia usually given and why.
The caesarean section procedure is described in plain English to assist the patients’ understanding of health information and to help patients make informed decisions.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology patient information leaflets are printed in five-colour on high-quality A4 sheets.
