Miscarriage – patient information for women
This patient education pamphlet provides information on miscarriage. The topics discussed include: the definition of miscarriage, risks of miscarriage and types of miscarriage. The types of miscarriage listed include complete miscarriage, incomplete miscarriage, sceptic miscarriage and miscarriage due to an ectopic or tubal pregnancy.
The treatments are described for women who may need medical intervention following miscarriage, such as dilatation and curettage (D&C). The expectant approach and the medical approach (with the use of prescription medication) are also discussed.
Miscarriage is described in plain English to assist the patients’ understanding of health information and to help patients make informed decisions. The Obstetrics and Gynaecology patient information leaflets are printed in five-colour on high-quality A4 sheets.
